Organizing for America, President Barack Obama’s permanent campaign wing, has endorsed the ‘One Nation Working Together’ rally to be held on the National Mall at the Lincoln Memorial this Saturday, October 2, 2010.
Anticipating “the biggest progressive demonstration in decades” are labor unions and some 300 liberal activist groups, including; the Communist Party USA, Democratic Socialists of America, AFL-CIO, Teamsters, SEIU, NAACP, ANSWER, Code Pink (ties to Hamas and other terrorist groups), National Council of La Raza (‘The Race’), National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, Queers for Economic Justice, Service Employees International Union, Rainbow Push Coalition, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, American Federation of Teachers, and the Campaign for America’s Future.

According to the New York Times, the United Methodist Church, the United Church of Christ, the National Baptist Convention and several Jewish organizations are just some of the churches and faith groups co-sponsoring the event and participating in a scheduled march.
“A march like this is something that hasn’t been accomplished since Dr. King brought people together in 1963 around issues of race, war, class and the right to decent pay and good jobs,” said Amy Stapleton, a spokeswoman for the United Methodist Church.
Organizing for America is sending out email notices to members asking that they travel to Washington to take part. The groups sponsoring the ‘One Nation Working Together‘ rally say they hope to replace the Tea Party’s ‘divisiveness’ with a message of unity that promotes justice, jobs and education.
“The Tea Party has been getting much more media attention than it deserves, and it’s been saying it represents the voice of middle-class America,” said George Gresham, president of 1199 SEIU, a New York health care union local, who says his union has chartered 500 buses to carry 25,000 union members to the rally. “A lot of us feel we have to get a different voice out there speaking for working people, one respecting the diversity of this country, which the Tea Party does not.”
“Mr. Jealous and Mr. Gresham, the two men who originally proposed the march, say they hope it will be larger than Mr. Beck’s rally. “We believe that our satellite photos will stack up nicely to his satellite photos,” Mr. Jealous said.”
Below is President Obama’s call to action video posted on Organizing for America’s website, touting his ‘accomplishments’ over the last 20+ months:

Ah yes, “ask not what your country can do for you”. Come on Mr. President it is not time “to step up” it is time for you to step down !
The legacy of the 2008-2012 presidency: in your face everyday everywhere african politics socializing america into a communistic country with a ground zero victory mosque
What strikes me is the difference between the two rallies. Mr. Beck’s rally resulted from a call for a restoration of honor and accountability. He intentionally kept the agenda secret, yet hundreds of thousands of people came together on the Mall to support a restoration of integrity in our public life. It was meant to be apolitical. The One Nation rally, on the other hand, is a carefully orchestrated production of professional organizers to create the appearance of a spontaneous gathering. The groups behind this effort do not seek public accountability and integrity but seek to impose a government led control over the lives of citizens they cynically believe are too ill-equipped to make their own decisions.
This is hilarious spin on the truth. Beck’s gathering was very professionally organized and promnoted by the right-wing talk network. The fact is that Beck’s gathering only rerpesented Beck’s mindless followers being used by the rich coporations who simply want to get richer without anyone bothering them.
The One nation rally representes a whole different group of people -- all citizens -- all voters -- who disagree with Beck’s politics of fear and don’t think corporations should run this country.
One nation represents what is wrong with america! It represents all the people who can’t think or form thoughts on their own. They let government and unions do the thinking and take a cut of your hard earned money to do it! Give me a break liberals. SEIU isn’t for anybody but themselves. The majority of their union is made up of unskilled workers who flip burgers and change sheets at hotels and want to make a career out of it. So Andy Stern braiwashes the poor people and tells them what they should protest. Then collects their monthly union dues and gets rich and powerful.
As a long time member of the United Methodist Church, I am troubled that any board or agency of the UMC officially endorses this rally and I do not believe this represents the opinions of most laity members.
Judy,
Agreed.
#1 Found this…
“He explained that the Methodist Church does not have one single leader, but rather four general agencies and “12 or 13” general commissions spread out across the country. A single agency or commission cannot speak for the entire denomination — only a once-every-four-year General Conference can do that. “And certainly [the General Conference] didn‘t adopt any resolution related to the ’One Nation World March’ [sic],” Rhodes said. So, he added, it would be “impossible” for Rev. Stapleton to speak on behalf of the entire Methodist Church.”

#2 And this…
The explanation in the article link is quite correct. It points out how Methodists can have it both ways. The “church” does not support the march, but the Board of Church and Society does. The “church” however, supports said Board with its system of apportionments, where money from local congregations is subject to apportionments for various annual conference expenses (think of an annual conference like a big diocese) and various church boards.

ps -- What a perfect opportunity for the UMC body to call out the few ‘leaders’ that stray from the flock.
#4 And this…
only 424 people attended the One Nation Rally for Obama -- looks like the Yes, we can! has gone and went!
Yes, we can!
Yes, we can! We can have an inter-racial homophobic socialistic bankrupt America, not to mention islamic for fear of offending the moslems. Yes, we can move forward from racism, bigotry, selfishness, equal pay, decent housing, medical care; replace these names and words and suddenly you get communism. What is wrong with you and your eyesight and inability to see the truth for the truth.
Wow Do you even hear yourselves. Replace the names and words with the opposites and suddenly you will support it. It speaks to your racism, your bigotry, and your selfishness. But you don’t know and sadly the universe (you call that God) will keep giving you opportunities to understand what it means to be disadvantaged. Have you ever been there? Do you even know what it means to do without … respect, equal pay, fair medical treatment (look up the latest guatemalan purposeful std infections just like Tuskagee), decent housing. What does it mean to work two jobs and still not be able to pay the rent? What is wrong with you and your eyesight and inability to see the truth for the truth.
Your problem with Mr. Obama is that he is half black. I grew up in the same white america (yes I am white, but obviously raised better than you). I heard the same bigotry. I experienced people saying the N word was ok. Go after all the stock brokers and bankers who stole your money. Go after the president that bankrupted our country to try to increase his own personal fund through the profitable machine of war. Wake up! But I’m sure after this is “moderated” it won’t be posted because the truth is not what you are after. What you are after is “white america” which simply doesn’t exist as it once did and you need to accept that and move on. You need to spend some significant time with people of other cultures and learn who they are and what they are about.
My problem with Obama is he is a socialist.Couldn’t give a crap what the hell color he is. Race card is used up and is falling on deaf ears. Instead of blaming bankers how ’bout blaming people like Barney Frank and Chris Dodd (Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac/Countrywide) for forcing banks to give out loans to people who could not possibly afford to pay them back. Why is it that most cities that vote Democrat or are democrat strong holds (like Detroit) are amonst the most run down and poor? What have they(the democrats) done all these years to help? As far as “white America” There are many bigoted and racist blacks, but I find that there are alot of good people of every shade of color. p.s. Enough of the class warfare too. Not all rich people are evil. Never had a job from a poor person. If companies were not taxed to death maybe companies would stay and thrive. (not move out of the country.) Then offer their workers a better wage. Socialist policies have failed everywhere they have been tried. Instead of changing america why not move to where these policies are being used right now like cuba or venezuala.
