It’s Official: No Proof Of Citizenship Required To Vote
(AP) The Supreme Court ruled Monday that states cannot on their own require would-be voters to prove they are U.S. citizens before using a federal registration system designed to make signing up easier.
The justices voted 7-2 to throw out Arizona’s voter-approved requirement that prospective voters document their U.S. citizenship in order to use a registration form produced under the federal “Motor Voter” voter registration law.
Federal law “precludes Arizona from requiring a federal form applicant to submit information beyond that required by the form itself,” Justice Antonia Scalia wrote for the court’s majority.
The court was considering the legality of Arizona’s requirement that prospective voters document their U.S. citizenship in order to use a registration form produced under the federal “motor voter” registration law. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said that the National Voter Registration Act of 1993, which doesn’t require such documentation, trumps Arizona’s Proposition 200 passed in 2004.
Arizona appealed that decision to the Supreme Court.
“Today’s decision sends a strong message that states cannot block their citizens from registering to vote by superimposing burdensome paperwork requirements on top of federal law,” said Nina Perales, vice president of litigation for the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund and lead counsel for the voters who challenged Proposition 200.

Man Charged For Stopping Youth Gang Vandalizing Family’s Home
(13) A Wayne County man is now facing four charges for Endangering the Welfare of a Child after he interrupted an act of vandalism at a home he was renovating for his father-in-law.
The incident unfolded around 9 p.m. Saturday when Jesse Daniels said he told his wife to call 911 after he heard loud noises coming from the home next door and saw an individual striking a wall with a hammer.
Daniels tells 13WHAM News he ran next door and found four children, ages eight and ten, doing damage to the property. Daniels said he took a hammer from one of the kids and corralled them into a closet while he waited for police to arrive. Daniels estimated that the damage to his father-in-law’s property exceeds $40,000.
Clyde Village Police took the children back to their parents and filed felony criminal charges of Burglary 2nd Degree and Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree. Those cases will be handled in Family Court and the results of each case is likely to remain sealed.
On Monday police returned to Daniels’ home and arrested him on four counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
The parents of the children insisted on the charges according to authorities. They claim that their children were shoved into the closet, that one was grabbed around the neck, and that Daniels’ threatened them with the hammer.
Daniels was arraigned on those charges and is due back in court later this month. The maximum sentence on each charge is one year in county jail.
Wayne County District Attorney Richard Healy tells 13WHAM News that the entire incident is still under investigation and he is still gathering information. While Healy can decide not to prosecute he said he does not have enough information at this time to make that decision.
How It All Started
Daniels tells 13WHAM News that around 7 p.m. on Saturday the boys had been riding dirt bikes or ATV’s in the area and that his wife told the boys to get off their property. He suspects that the boys later returned to the home next door as a way of retaliation. Some of the words written in paint on the walls of the home were derogatory slangs about women.

(OrlandoSentinel) When the tires on their Dodge Caravan had worn so thin that the steel belts were showing through, Don and Florence Cherry couldn’t afford to buy a new set.
So they decided to rent instead.
The Rich Square, N.C., couple last September agreed to pay Rent-N-Roll $54.60 a month for 18 months in exchange for four basic Hankook tires. Over the life of the deal, that works out to $982, almost triple what the radials would have cost at Wal-Mart.
“I know you have to pay a lot more this way,” said Florence Cherry, a 57-year-old nurse who drives the 15-year-old van when her husband, a Vietnam veteran, isn’t using it to get to his job as a prison guard. “But we didn’t really have a choice.”
Socked by soaring tire prices and short on funds, growing numbers of Americans are renting the rubber to keep their cars rolling.
Rent-to-own tire shops are among the newest arrivals to a sprawling alternative financial sector focused on the nation’s economic underclass. Like payday lenders, pawn shops and Buy Here Pay Here used-car lots, tire rental businesses provide ready credit to consumers who can’t get a loan anywhere else. But that access doesn’t come cheap.
Customers pay huge premiums for their tires, sometimes four times above retail. Those who miss payments may find their car on cinder blocks, stripped of their tires by dealers who aggressively repossess. Tire rental contracts are so ironclad that even a bankruptcy filing can’t make them go away.
Still, with payments as low as $14 a week, rent-to-own — long the province of sofa sets and flat-screen TVs — is proving irresistible for consumers desperate for safe transportation.
It’s also a booming business for specialized tire and wheel dealers that have become beneficiaries of a struggling U.S. economy. Fast-expanding chains with names like Rent-a-Wheel and EZ Rims 4 Rent that got their start selling high-end rims to car enthusiasts have discovered a lucrative market selling tires on time.
“We see tremendous opportunity serving people who are just looking for dependable tires to get to work,” said Larry Sutton, founder and president of Rent-N-Roll. The Tampa, Fla., chain has 66 locations nationwide, including two in California, and plans to open six more this year.
Sutton registered the trademark RNR Tire Express last fall and has been rebranding many stores to focus on tires instead of the oversized chrome rims that were the chain’s mainstay. Today, Sutton said, tires make up two-thirds of RNR’s sales, up from less than half several years ago.
A host of economic factors are pushing the growth of tire rentals.
Soaring costs for natural rubber and petroleum used to manufacture tires have pushed up prices. The average price of a passenger tire in the U.S. increased 57% in 2012 from 2006, according to data from trade publication Modern Tire Dealer. The prices on some popular sizes have more than doubled.
Consumers, meanwhile, have an increasingly difficult time affording big-ticket purchases.
Since 2009, median household income has fallen more than 5%. And in the wake of the recession, the number of households in the country with credit histories too damaged to qualify for most credit cards has risen to 35% from 27% five years ago.
With more people shut out of traditional financing, the rent-to-own industry has flourished. Promising no credit checks, small down payments and the option to return merchandise at any time with no questions asked, chains such as Rent-a-Center are raking in huge profits from a customer base that’s swelled to 4.8 million people, up 67% since 2007, according to the Assn. of Progressive Rental Organizations.
Tires account for just a tiny slice of the $8.5-billion rent-to-own market. But they stand out from the industry’s traditional fare because — unlike with a dinette set — giving back tires means not being able to drive to work.

“See Something, Shoot Something” – FBI Shoot And Kill Orlando Man Who Knew Boston Bomb Suspect
(US Today) An FBI agent shot and killed an Orlando man early Wednesday who had been questioned for several hours about his alleged ties to Boston bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the victim’s friend told local media.

NBC News, quoting unidentified sources, said the FBI agent shot and killed 27-year-old Ibragim Todashev when the victim allegedly started to attack him while he was being questioned in a Florida condominium.
ABC News quoted an unidentified law enforcement officer as saying that the FBI agent had felt threatened.
“There was some sort of aggressive movement that led the FBI agent to believe he was under threat and he opened fire,” the law enforcement official told ABC News.
FBI officials confirmed that a man died while one of its agents was “conducting official duties,” the Orlando Sentinel reports, but they would not elaborate.

Obama, “I’m A Black Man”
(WaPo) President Obama on Sunday summoned the graduates of historically black Morehouse College to “transform the way we think about manhood,” urging the young men to avoid the temptation to make excuses and to take responsibility for their families and their communities.
Delivering a commencement address at the all-male private liberal arts college in Atlanta, Obama spoke in deeply personal terms about the “special obligation” he feels as a black man to help those left behind.
“There but for the grace of God, I might be in their shoes,” Obama said. “I might have been in prison. I might have been unemployed. I might not have been able to support a family — and that motivates me.”
The president also reflected on the absence of his father growing up, noting that he was raised by a “heroic single mother,” and urged the young graduates not to shrink from their family responsibilities.
“My whole life, I’ve tried to be for Michelle and my girls what my father wasn’t for my mother and me,” Obama said. “I want to break that cycle — where a father’s not at home, where a father’s not helping to raise that son and daughter. I want to be a better father, a better husband, a better man.”
In his 32-minute address, Obama was far more personal and reflective than he traditionally has been, especially on matters of racial discrimination. Obama delivered a similar speech three years ago when he addressed the graduates of Hampton University in Virginia, another historically black college.
He paid tribute to Martin Luther King Jr., a Morehouse graduate, noting that King’s education there “helped to forge the intellect, the discipline, the compassion, the soul force that would transform America.”
Obama added: “Laws and hearts and minds have been changed to the point where someone who looks just like you can somehow come to serve as president of these United States.”
Yet Obama acknowledged that “the bitter legacies of slavery and segregation” have not vanished, that discrimination still exists.
“As Morehouse men, many of you know what it’s like to be an outsider, to be marginalized, to feel the sting of discrimination. That’s an experience that a lot of Americans share,” Obama said.
Hispanic Americans, Obama lamented, are told to “go back” home while strangers pass judgment on the parenting skills of gay men and lesbians or stare at Muslim Americans with suspicion.

My name is Mark Dougan and I own PBSOTalk.com. My web site is “Exposing the Culture of Corruption in the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.” I am under attack from the Palm Beach “Corruption County” Sheriff, Ric Bradshaw, and his Chief Deputy Michael Gauger for exercising my rights to free speech – exposing corruption within their organization. I know a bit about corruption in the agency – I was a deputy there until swift retaliation forced me to resign. After I blew the whistle on Brent Raban for posting his beatings on Facebook, and wrote in a report ‘a sergeant ordered me to commit a felony’, they levied a barrage of Internal Afairs investigations against me in an effort to have me terminated. Before this, I was the Deputy of the month in 2008 and nominated again that same year. My personnel file is riddled with letters of commendation from citizens and supervisors.
I was inspired and have always been awestruck by what Larry Flynt did for our First-Amendment rights ever since I saw the movie, “The People vs. Larry Flynt” in high school. Though I had not given these liberties much thought for many years, the importance of what Mr. Flynt did for our country has recently become apparent and I find myself fighting the same battles and have dedicated myself to the same cause.

Mark Dougan – whistleblower
· Sheriff Ric Bradshaw was caught stealing a firearm from the evidence room (Click: HERE to view the documentation). In the same sworn deposition, it was discovered Sheriff Bradshaw ordered detectives to falsify evidence against a black defendant to put him in jail. Sheriff Bradshaw has already been successfully sued for discrimination and is currently facing up to 31 lawsuits for discrimination. If successful, the payouts for these suits come from the taxpayers.
· Sheriff Bradshaw’s friend, Lt. Dan Burrows, was caught stealing the pain medication off the nightstand of a man who was dying of cancer. Sheriff Bradshaw refused to let Internal Affairs take any action and ordered them to hide his crimes (Click HERE to read the story). When PBSO SWAT Lieutenant Dan Burrows was caught stealing the pain medication off the nightstand of a dying deputy and made that same dying deputy to get out of his “death bed” and open his safe to steal additional pain meds and firearms, Sheriff Bradshaw attempted to conceal this crime and arrested the disgusted IA investigator who leaked it to the media.
· Sheriff Ric Bradshaw was using his county credit card to treat campaign contributors to meals at lavish restaurants and bars. Some of these people have ties to the Colombo Crime Family. Sheriff Bradshaw was fully aware of these ties to organized crime, as it was pointed out by the Palm Beach Post in 2008 (Click HERE to read the Palm Beach Post article). The Florida Ethics Commission found that the purchases with taxpayer money were “not in the proper performance in his official duties.”
· Sheriff Ric Bradshaw has been extorting money from seniors by raising their property taxes. He threatens they will become victims of violent gang-related crime because he will have to shut down their substations and cut police services. He then uses the money to buy off civilian employees who work for his campaign, to include about $6 Million per year in “company cars” the civilians drive to and from work and free gasoline, all funded by the taxpayer (Click HERE to view the documentation).
· Sheriff Bradshaw committed two felonies in May 2011 when he falsified an official document, alleging fraud, to receive a new county purchasing card in an attempt to hide his purchases from records request.
· Sheriff Bradshaw spent $12,313 to purchase silver-plated revolvers, complete with engraved name plaques, to present to each elected Sheriff in Florida. When public records requests were made, the Sheriff repeatedly lied (committing four misdemeanor counts of violating the sunshine law), however, a photograph from Sheriff Martin Crowder was obtained, as well as a confirmation that he was personally presented the firearm from Bradshaw. Also obtained was the invoice from the distributor which shows that they were purchased by the Sheriff’s Office (Click: HERE for the documentation. Note: the invoice has a typo but it was made out to PBSO’s address and to the attention to PBSO Events Coordinator Carol Verdigi).
· Sheriff Ric Bradshaw spent $89,000 on three(3) massive BBQ grills to be used at reelection campaign events, as well as being used for fund raising drives for the P.B.C. Police Benevolent Association. This does not include the three(3) diesel trucks in the amount of about $100,000. This information is known far and wide and even brought up in the candidate debate at the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office race. What an embarrassment to the citizens of Palm Beach County (to see the records, click: HERE).
· Sheriff Ric Bradshaw allowed a PBSO Lieutenant to commit felonies to include wiretapping. There were also credible allegations of rape, with evidence, though it was swept under the rug.
· I obtained and posted a deposition where a police chief testified Sheriff Bradshaw stole a gun from evidence and ordered detectives to fabricate reports to convict blacks.
· I obtained proof he was falsifying public records.
· I obtained proof he was using tax payer dollars to take campaign contributors with ties to organized crime to fancy restaurants.
· I have uncovered millions in waste, fraud and abuse, reported by many local newspapers and television stations.
In addition to having an anonymous forum that allows people to post statements and corruption about the Palm Beach County government without fear of retaliation, I post the documents I receive in my document repository, located at http://docs.pbsotalk.com so that people can see the proof for themselves.
As a former police officer, I found that far too many leaders twist the laws and use them for the personal benefit of stifling free speech. I am now a target for my web site and writings and they are targeting people anonymously posting and “blowing the whistle” on my site.
To protect the anonymity of those posting on my web site, I have my own server. I pride myself in providing honest cops with a forum to anonymously blow the whistle. Since I do not log IP addresses, there is no way they can subpoena this information from me like they can from a typical web host.
Since I started my web site, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office started a massive criminal investigation to try and seize my server that hosts my web forum. I found this out when the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Internal Affairs Lieutenant (Johnson) on five felony counts for leaking information to my web site.
The information he was leaking was the fact that a S.W.A.T. Lieutenant (Burrows) was stealing pain medications from a deputy dying a horrible death from cancer. The Sheriff, being friends with Lt. Burrows, ordered Internal Affairs to sweep it under the rug. It was leaked to my site and therefore the media, which forced the Sheriff to take action. In the arrest affidavit for Lt. Johnson, it was revealed I was the subject of a criminal investigation in an attempt to seize my computers and shut down my web site. In fact, the arrest affidavit states, “They [the investigators] are trying to find anything they can on this guy but keep running into brick walls… They have nothing so they can’t seize his computers…”
They couldn’t charge me criminally so in February 2013, so the Sheriff’s campaign manager attempted to purchase my web site in the amount of $75,000 using taxpayer’s money. I refused and instead flew an airplane banner over the Honda Classic Golf Tournament that stated:
“Our Sheriff is a Thief – PBSOTalk.com”

· They know I am willing to trade my liberty to allow the anonymous, protected free speech of those within the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and anyone else who wants to post on my web site.
· They know they cannot intimidate me – they have already harassed my family and friends at their places of employment as well as threatening me with criminal arrest and I have repeatedly told them I shall not yield.
· They know they cannot deter me – my brother received a telephone call from Chief Deputy Gauger about a month ago. Gauger told my brother he was investigating my entire family and it would not stop until my web site was shut down. When my brother told him he could not be of assistance, he told my brother if he tells me of the phone call, he will have him arrested for divulging the nature of a criminal investigation (there is no such charge in Florida that applies to civilians).
This is my fight but it is not only my fight. It is the fight of every American that values the protections set forth in the Constitution of the United States. It is a fight to defend our freedom of speech for when the government takes it away from me, a man willing to give everything to protect it, they will take it away from everyone who is not as dedicated as I.

Nazi County Sheriff, “We Want People To Call Us If The Guy Down The Street Says He Hates The Government”
(palmbeachpost) Florida House and Senate budget leaders have awarded Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw $1 million for a new violence prevention unit aimed at preventing tragedies like those in Newtown, Conn., and Aurora, Colo., from occurring on his turf.
Bradshaw plans to use the extra $1 million to launch “prevention intervention” units featuring specially trained deputies, mental health professionals and caseworkers. The teams will respond to citizen phone calls to a 24-hour hotline with a knock on the door and a referral to services, if needed.
The goal will be avoiding crime — and making sure law enforcement knows about potential powder kegs before tragedies occur, Bradshaw said. But the earmark, which is a one-time-only funding provision, provoked a debate Monday among mental health advocates and providers about the balance between civil liberties, privacy and protecting the public.
Bradshaw said his proposal is a first-of-its-kind in the nation, and he hopes it will become a model for the rest of the state like his gang prevention and pill-mill units.
“Every single incident, whether it’s Newtown, that movie theater, or the guy who spouts off at work and then goes home and kills his wife and two kids — in every single case, there were people who said they knew ahead of time that there was a problem,” Bradshaw said. “If the neighbor of the mom in Newtown had called somebody, this might have saved 25 kids’ lives.”
Bradshaw is readying a hotline and is planning public service announcements to encourage local citizens to report their neighbors, friends or family members if they fear they could harm themselves or others.
The goal won’t be to arrest troubled people but to get them help before there’s violence, Bradshaw said. As a side benefit, law enforcement will have needed information to keep a close eye on things.
“We want people to call us if the guy down the street says he hates the government, hates the mayor and he’s gonna shoot him,” Bradshaw said. “What does it hurt to have somebody knock on a door and ask, ‘Hey, is everything OK?’ ”
That’s enough for Senate budget chief Joe Negron, R-Stuart, who helped push through the funding last weekend.

Mental health advocates, however, worry about a potential new source of stigma, and the potential for erosion of the civil rights of people with mental illnesses.
“How are they possibly going to watch everybody who makes a comment like that? It’s subjective,” said Liz Downey, executive director of the Palm Beach County branch of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. “We don’t want to take away people’s civil liberties just because people aren’t behaving the way we think they should be.”
