Tonight at the White House State Dining Room, while celebrating the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, Obama almost used the word, “constitution.”

“Associated Press — President Barack Obama on Friday forcefully endorsed building a mosque near ground zero, saying, ‘the country’s founding principles demanded no less.’

Never mind threats against national security, it’s a ‘principle’ thing we wouldn’t understand.

“Our capacity to show not merely tolerance, but respect to those who are different from us…” continued Obama.

Really! Like the respect shown to returning war veterans or the Tea Party movement?

Obama then stated, “This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakable.”

Hence the Obama administration’s Department of Homeland Security ‘Extremism‘ report, released in April 2010. The government-written-and-published report labels groups and individuals – some practicing religious freedom by defending biblical principles such as anti-abortion – potential leaders of ‘terrorist groups or lone wolf extremists capable of carrying out violent attacks.’

If It Moves, Tax It

On 08.13.10, in Fun, Taxes, by Sad Hill

“The government’s view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

Timing is everything. Had the owner of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange been dumping identical documents during the Bush administration he may have won a Pulitzer. Julian has been dumping ‘not-so-sensitive’ military documents for years, but only now – during the Obama administration – does the mainstream media and its journalism advocacy group step forward to label the planned document release, ‘incredible irresponsibility.’ Guess the other 76,000 previously released ‘secret’, often military-related documents posed zero threat to national security.

Wonder if this event will be used as an excuse to shutdown the internet…

This from the ‘suddenly concerned’ journalism corps (pronounced ‘core’ not ‘corpse’):

“Wikileaks has in the past played a useful role by making information available to the US and international public that exposed serious violations of human rights and civil liberties which the Bush administration committed in the name of its war against terror.”

Which television station do you support watch?

ABC Family (“family?”) received a ‘good’ rating from GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) since 37% of its programming contained ‘LGBT’ (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) material. Only MTV received a higher rating of ‘excellent’ with 42% LGBT content. ABC Family is owned and operated by The Walt Disney Company. (ahem!)

Gay advocacy groups and followers of Alfred Kinsey, regularly claim at least 10% of Americans are gay. Research shows otherwise. According to US demographic studies, anywhere from 2-5% of the population may be gay. Even the Centers for Disease Control Census reports a much lower rating than 10%. So why all of the LGBT content? (rhetorical question)

Any faves in the coveted 4th annual GLAAD ‘Network Responsibility Index?’

Dismissing the promised August 1, 2010 delivery date of 1,200 National Guard troops to the US-Mexico border, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano says the troops – pledged to Arizona and other border states – won’t be in place for weeks, even months.

“The first began arriving, or the command and control elements began arriving, on the 1st of august. They should all be there within, I would say, 30 to 60 days,” said Napolitano.

The original promise, made back in July 2010 by the Obama administration, was for an August 1 deployment of 1,200 National Guard troops along the border  — 524 to Arizona, 250 to Texas, 224 to California, 72 to New Mexico, and 130 to a national liaison office.

In preparation for hosting Iftar tonight at the White House – an event observed during Ramadan – Obama released the following written statement:

“Ramadan is a celebration of a faith known for great diversity and racial equality…a reminder that Islam has always been part of America and that American Muslims have made extraordinary contributions to our country.”

They certainly have: World Trade Center, Pentagon, Fort Hood,…

“These rituals remind us of the principles that we hold in common, and Islam’s role in advancing justice, progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings.”

Is this why Team Obama remains mum on the Muslim Mosque mess?

One year ago a national rumor circulated about free “Obama Phones” – subsidized cellphones and service for those on public assistance – being distributed by participating wireless companies such as Safelink Wireless.

In an attempt to dispel all things anti-socialism, Safelink Wireless borrowed a chapter from Snopes.com’s playbook and posted a page on their website stating the ‘Obama Phone‘ claim as, “False”: HERE

Safelink even cited Factcheck.org as “proof” they’re not giving away Obama Phones. Huh?

Upon reading Safelink Wireless propaganda, it becomes obvious the free Obama Phone and no-cost service has been repackaged as the, “Lifeline Program” and “Lifeline Service.”

“The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) recently approved the company to offer Lifeline – a public assistance program that ensures telephone service is available and affordable for low-income subscribers.”

Random Thoughts

On 08.12.10, in Fun, by Sad Hill
Random thoughts for the day, lifted from an email.
  • Map Quest really needs to start their directions at #5. I’m pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.
  • I wish Google Maps had an “Avoid Ghetto” routing option.
  • Bad decisions make good stories.
  • I’m always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page technical report that I swear I did not make any changes to.
  • I think the freezer deserves a light as well.
  • I would rather try to carry 10 over-loaded plastic bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in.
  • The only time I look forward to a red light is when I’m trying to finish a text.
  • Sometimes I’ll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.

During his presidential campaign, still in progress, Obama Jr. said, “my father served in World War II.” That would have made Kenyan communist Barack Obama Senior, who was born in 1936, just 9 years old when WWII ended. Maybe Barry meant his adoptive Indonesian father Lolo Soetoro, who was born in 1935, making Lolo a 10-year-old WWII veteran upon its conclusion.
