Two days ago SHN reported on our government’s attempt to condition the general public for martial law through unannounced sniper exercises held in downtown Asheville, NC causing pedestrians to flee for their lives. Guess Asheville wasn’t the only civilian area recently targeted by Big Brother’s terror tactics.
What’s really bizarre – or not – is that on both panic-inciting occasions no one was informed prior to the ‘drills’, and those in charge used identical excuses – a ‘miscommunication’ between divisions.
(StarTribune) With their guns drawn, police surrounded a man who reportedly was trying to get through security at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport with a bomb in a carry-on bag.
It was a drill, but the trouble was no one had told the cops, who thought it was real.
“I think a lot of people were alarmed,” Patrick Hogan, spokesman for the Metropolitan Airport Commission, said of last week’s incident. “There is always a danger that someone could have gotten hurt. It was unfortunate.”
The routine drill conducted by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) began about 2:40 p.m. last Thursday, when a man with a fake bomb in his bag attempted to get through the security at checkpoint 2, which is near the United, American and U.S. Airways airlines ticketing counters, Hogan said. The screener identified what looked to be an explosive device and immediately notified authorities.
The police quickly evacuated the ticketing area and mall area, and with their guns drawn, confronted the man, Hogan said.
Within seconds, TSA officials notified police that the bomb was fake and the incident was merely a drill to test the response of screeners and the communication system. For security reasons, Hogan declined to say how many officers responded to the incident.
TSA spokeswoman Carrie Harmon said the agency routinely conducts thousands of covert tests each year at airports across the country. Last week’s test at the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport ended up being a little too real because of “miscommunication” between the TSA and police, she said.
“TSA continues to review this incident but took immediate steps to ensure the correct procedures will be followed in the future,” Harmon said.

Welch said there was miscommunication between the training division and the rest of the department. Department administrators were not aware of the training exercise until a few hours before it occurred, he said.
“We apologize for the miscommunication,” Welch said. “This should be the one and only time it happens this week.”

A few years back we caught in the middle of something similar in the Portland, OR airport: with absolutely no notice or explanation, suddenly there are about a dozen men in uniform running through the people, down the main concourse near the security checkpoints, yelling (unintelligible because of the echoes in the large space), carrying guns and yelling into walkie-talkies …. it was absolutely terrifying and confusing….they just blew through and kept going….no explanation was ever made. Normal people stood there terrified, looking around, trying to figure out what was going on. Idiots. Obviously it is the best idea they can come up, and has the side benefit of getting the citizenry accustomed to unexpected armed troops running around who aren’t expected to account for their actions.

I was caught in a similar ‘situation’ in Asheville, NC off Biltmore Avenue (a major street) about 6 years ago while passing through. SWAT teams on the roofs, etc. Folks freakin’ and screamin’. No explanation. No report. 2 weeks later a little blurb about SWAT ‘exercises’ a ‘complete success’.
