In today’s headlines Obama informed Times Magazine that he realizes “there’s no such thing as shovel-ready projects.”
Let’s review, shall we…
March 3, 2009 – UPI , “Shovels already are hitting the ground in just the two weeks since the $787 billion stimulus package was signed,” U.S. President Barack Obama said Tuesday. Speaking to Transportation Department employees and flanked by Vice President Joe Biden and Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, Obama said 400,000 jobs of the estimated 3.5 million jobs either created or saved were involved in rebuilding infrastrucuture, updating transit or laying broadband line.”
Why take UPI’s word for it when we can get the same lies straight from the President’s mouth…
March 3, 2009 – The White House posted on their website, “Thanks in large part to Joe Biden….and because of all the governors and mayors, county and city officials who are helping implement this plan, I can say that 14 days after I signed our Recovery Act into law, we are seeing shovels hit the ground,” President Obama said in remarks at the Department of Transportation today.
“Two weeks ago, I signed into law the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the most sweeping economic recovery plan in history,” he said. “And already, its impact is being felt across this nation. Hardworking families can now worry a little less about next month’s bills because of the tax cut they’ll soon find in the mail. Renewable energy companies that were once downsizing are now finding ways to expand. And transportation projects that were once on hold are now starting up again — as part of the largest new investment in America’s infrastructure since President Eisenhower built the Interstate Highway System.”
Those promises were made by the White House over a year ago, so they must not count…
June 17, 2010 – AFP (also part of the AP conspiracy) reports, “Vice President Joe Biden said Thursday that the US economic recovery is on track and that the huge stimulus measure enacted last year ‘is working.’ “The fact is, the Recovery Act is working,” Biden told a news conference as the administration kicked off a six-week series of events called “Recovery Summer,” to highlight the numerous infrastructure programs funded by the 787-billion-dollar plan.
When claiming the stimulus is working and shovel-ready jobs are being created, Obama must have been thinking about his confirmed hometown, Kenya – which is close to the Republic of Mali shown in this 30-second video.
