Back in the day, many intellectuals and other so-called progressives hailed fascism as a “third way” between communism and capitalism. Under fascism, private property does exist, but it is concentrated into big businesses, controlled by the government. Workers are also concentrated, into huge unions, again, controlled by the government. Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power.

The publishing of papers which are not conducive to the national welfare must be forbidden. We demand the legal prosecution of all those tendencies in art and literature which corrupt our national life, and the suppression of cultural events which violate this demand.
24. We demand freedom for all religious denominations in the State, provided they do not threaten its existence not offend the moral feelings of the German race.
The Party, as such, stands for positive Christianity, but does not commit itself to any particular denomination. It combats the Jewish-materialistic spirit within and without us, and is convinced that our nation can achieve permanent health only from within on the basis of the principle: The common interest before self-interest.
25. To put the whole of this programme into effect, we demand the creation of a strong central state power for the Reich; the unconditional authority of the political central Parliament over the entire Reich and its organizations; and the formation of Corporations based on estate and occupation for the purpose of carrying out the general legislation passed by the Reich in the various German states.

Sounds like the Tea Party. Hitler was a pure facist not a socialist of any kind. He also hated American capitalism. The only party that stood up to Hitler was the Social Democrats and they were all killed as were the communists, real Christians, anarchist everybody you include with a leftist Hitler. The political spectrum is capitalism center right, facsim hard hard right, anarchism extreme right. Socialism center left, communism hard left until it becomes the hard right and then anarchy again. Thank you for the list that you posted but ones actions speak louder than dictates and Hitler was a Facist not a socialist and I have a history degree. the fact is that many of the final results of the left and the right simply merge at some point and seperating them essentially becomes impossible. Under your definition Washington and Hamilton would be liberals and Jefferson the conservative. Conservatism is not always about the freedom of the individual. If it were we would not have had the largest reduction in freedom since WWII under a conservative President or the illegal activities of Nixon, Reagan and Bush all conservatives in the name of national security. There are a small minority of conservatives, actually libertarians that believe in the individual, most conservatives believe in the corporate state, the flag, rigid law and order and only doing what the majority says. That is the conservatives of today. Far more similar to Hitler than the main progressive groups in America today. I admire the Tea Party for the democratic spirit of getting out the vote at the local level while I disagree with many of the sentiments that some of its members have. The founding fathers would real at todays conservatisim, a pledge of allegience to a flag, a nationaly mandated song to create false patriotism.
